The translator must comply with the code of conduct in his professional activities. The union's code contains key principles of best practice for translators and interpreters.

The translator undertakes to carry out his work with honesty and integrity, to reproduce the message to be conveyed as faithfully as possible, to have the required knowledges and competencies in the field of the mission, to look for specific information to achieve perfect comprehension and restitution of the documents to be translated, and to keep all information strictly confidential.

The Court-appointed expert is a qualified professional. His field of extrajudicial activities is very wide and includes the translation of civil status documents, technical, legal and official status files for the foreign authorities, or the interpreting by execution of deeds before public officers. He has to practice or has been practicing for a long period his professional activity in his expertise field, and has to follow specific vocational training.
